There was studies taken in 1996 that there were 1,047,200 million barrels of proven crude oil reserves. That is a bunch of oil and all the oil came from prehistoric life. The sea was swarming with life and then volcanic eruptions destroyed life and they became a part of the earth. Now every time we fill up our gas tanks we can think of all the dead life we are putting into our car.
Within 23 thousand years of extinction there was a volcanic erruption below the waters of the ocean. The explosion caused an extreme amount of ocean life to die. It also caused the carbon dioxide levels on the earths surface to drop. The decomposition of the organisms go towards the sea floor that cause oxygen depletion. Because of this it has occurred that it became a major source of oil.
There was a huge volcanic eruption in the ocean that caused extinction of several species of the marine life. This was an extreme event in the Earth's history. From the underwater volcanic eruption, nutrients were released to increase the growth of plants and animals. Also, a global anoxic event occurred. This is where the ocean is completely depleted of oxygen. Because the decaying organic matter returns components like CO2 and carbon to the atmosphere, it becomes locked up at the bottom of the ocean and turns them into oil.
I think that all the eruptions from the volcanos are really cool, its also interesting that the eruption that ceased the life of all those sea creatures. And that we are using their remains today for oil and such for our cars and machinery. But what the downfall of all of this is that some species of oceanic life could possibly be extinct because of this event.
Most scientists think oil started out as plankton and other tiny ocean critters, specifically their lipids. After the eruption killed them, these lipids settled on the ocean floor. Sediment then slowly covered up and buried the lipids allowing them to turn in to oil. The lipids were able to last so long on the ocean floor because bacteria does not like to eat them. Eruptions like the one in the article generate much of the oil we use today.
Wow! Thats crazy to think that's where gas came from. I had no idea that our gas is essentially just decayed fish and other under sea creatures that's been covered with sediment over many years. I only knew gas came from deep under the ocean. And to think it's all because of an eruption from a volcano. It's a bummer though that we missed out on some marine life due to their extinction because of the volcanic eruption.
I had absolutely no idea this is where gas came from! The gas we use is made from dead ocean animals like plankton. The underwater volcanic explosion increases the amount of Co2 in the water, life flourishes but when it builds up they die the creatures are buried deep down where they then turn into oil that we use for our cars and for other machinery.
This article was interesting because i didn't know where our gases came from. its cool to find out that our gas can be made from dead plankton and other organisms in the ocean. its cool to know that the eruptions of the volcanos caused some life in the sea to die of and also increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the water which kills some of the plankton and drops to them the sea floor where they eventually turn into oil that we can mine.
Everything created in the world is beneficial based on its purpose, like the volcanoes in water, and the give off organic matters which created a layer by spreading around the sea floor. there were benefits from the eruption of volcanoes which gave off nutrients and created carbon dioxide and created oil. this is a process which reproduces itself over and over again. however it kills the planktons in water and makes the color of the ocean change. everything has a good and a bad side to it, but we should not overdue the process by using artificial substances in the earth. everything should be created on its own.
