It's amazing how young sea turtles survive the dash for the ocean and the predators once they get there but to travel thousands of miles around the world is just unbelievable. They travel from places that they hatch like Costa Rica and Florida and travel all the way to places Barbados and Bermuda. This long journey leaves them vulnerable to predators. Once they grow up in these places they make the long migration to Nicaragua to live out there adult lives.
I found it really amazing that even though turtle are so young when the leave their nest, they can still manage to find their original nest even into their old ages. I also found it amazing how turtles such as green turtles migrate from places like North Carolina or Barbados all the way to Nicaragua. Young turtles already must undergo the hardships of being left unattended on a beach in brittle egg, but the fact that they also have to find their way to the ocean at so young, all by themselves, amazes me. They are so vulnerable to predators, yet they still undergo such a long, amazing journey
It is so amazing how independent sea turtles are throughout the stages of their life, and how tiny they start out. They start out as tiny hatchlings fighting to make it to the water before getting eaten by predators. Then they migrate somewhere else, on their own, to grow up. After that they migrate somewhere else as an adult and then back to where they hatched. They really have an expansive life. It is amazing how far they travel and how they do it mostly on their own.
Awww poor baby turtles! I can't imagine being hatched and left all alone to follow the programming in my head to get to where I'm supposed to be. There are so many turtle that don't make it to there final point because they get lost, or eaten by predators. The baby turtles are soooo tiny! What's even crazier is that they can migrate elsewhere then go back to where they hatched! Talk about a good memory!
I found it amazing how a young baby turtle can be left in a tiny brittle shell on the beach and then be able to make it to the ocean all by themselves. The baby turtles are so tiny and there are many predators who want to eat them. Its also incredible how even when the turtle is really old it can find its nest that it hatched from. From reading this article i realized how much turtles travel the world and explore throughout their life. They go from Florida all the way to Barbados and back. A sea turtle really lives an incredible life.
I think it's amazing that the turtles are so smart and they know exactly where they were born and always return To e same location to lay there own eggs. I also think its cool that they are in such a large state of survival right from birth and that the ones that survive the things they go trough to live. It's also incredible that they live so long the length of humans lives even. This article was very interesting.
It's pretty crazy to think that a baby turtle, left alone at birth, can find its way back to where it was born, 80 years later! It is also amazing how the travel such far distances to migrate after they have endured so many challenges. The research that was in this article talks about how traveling is a very vulnerable time for turtles, and it is incredible how they continue to travel thousands of kilometers.
Wow! It is pretty incredible how sea turtles know exactly how and where to go to find the place of their birth to lay eggs and have their own children. Even after as long as 80 years they know where to go! I also think it is fascinating that when the baby sea turtles are left on their own, they are so vulnerable. Their shells are very fragile and many different animals are predators of them.
Turtles certainly are fascinating marine animals. It is remarkable to see that they have developed an biological GPS that takes them on journey up to tens of thousands of kilometers. Not only are they out live almost every marine animal of comparable size and be able to always return home, but they can also make long journeys to grow up in certain places. Overall this article was very interesting and only deepened my fascination and understanding of sea turtles.
It is pretty cool to think about the life of a sea turtle. To start life with a dash for your life and if you make it then you will always be traveling going all over the place . Kind of amazing how they remember where their home is from such a young age. Wow.....that was a very interesting article!!!
This article shows that there is so much to be discovered, based on the researcher's journey to opening the door to the unknown. I can't imagine human beings life span be as long as these turtles, therefor the lives of turtles are complex, and interesting. Their migration from place to place is what it makes me wonder, but it's part of their lifestyle. when they're released from their eggs, they know immediately where to migrate, escaping from the hungry predators.
I was really amazed by the sea turtles ability to instinctively know exactly the time and place it should go to develop. Thanks to Finding Nemo, I already knew that sea turtles could live up to 90 years but it is still impressive nonetheless. It kind of makes you think just how interesting and even hazardous a turtles whole lifetime can be. But I think there can still be even more to find out about these incredible animals. And so I hope Dr. Meylan and his wife continue their studies so we one day we can fully understand their complex lives.
Wow! This is crazy, I thought that sea turtles were dumb as rocks. I had no idea they were this smart and had the abililty to do all of these amazingly things. These little guys can actually live to be pretty old. I knew that they could be pretty old but 90 years is crazy! I hope I could be as old as these things someday. Thanks for showing us all of this helpfull information it helped. E gain much respect for these little guys.
Its cool how the sea turtles were very smart because i thought they were really smart but i didn't know that their knowledge and intelligence went that far to do these crazy things and it is really cool how old they can be like i learned in fining memo. hopefully dr. meylan and his wife can find out more these amazing creatures so that we can learn more about them and their lives in the future.
Sea turtles remind alot like humans, sea turtles usually lived to their 70s or 80s and thats when humans usually live to. It is also amazing how sea turtle can be the size of dinner plates and grow into the size of wash tubs. it is also amazing how the sea turtle is alive because they have to go through some very tough situations when they are first born, they are very vulnerable at birth.
I am really amazed on how long a sea turtles life span can be. They can live to their 70s or 80s. The sea turtle has to migrate back to their birth place to nest. Researchers have found that they take a longer journey. In Bermuda waters they grow from about the size of a dinner plate to the size of a wash tub. Some green turtles hatched in Costa Rica were spending their "growing up" years thousands of kilometers away in Barbados.
It is surprising that Turtles can live so long considering they are small creatures in aquatic life. Also the fact that they remember where their birthplace is to go hatch eggs is really interesting. People would think turtles have a tough journey right after being born. It is cool that they grow from the size of a normal dinner plate to a bath tub. I personally always thought turtles were not tough or smart. Researches have found turtles are taking longer journeys in their migrations. The most education i ever received about turtles is from watching Finding Nemo, so it was interesting to learn about their migration patterns.
